Privacy Policy

Last updated 20 August 2026

BroCoached is a training, nutrition and supplement app. This policy explains what it collects, who else sees it, and how to get it deleted. It is written for the people actually using the app, so it is short and specific.

BroCoached is currently a pre-release test build shared with a small group of testers. Treat it as unfinished software.

What we collect

  • Account details. You sign in with Google. We receive your email address and name from Google. We never see your Google password.
  • What you tell the app about yourself. Age, sex, height, body weight, training experience, goals, schedule and time zone, from onboarding and your profile.
  • What you log. Workouts, sets, weights and reps, meals and their macros, water, supplements and their timing, body weight over time.
  • Your conversations with BRO, the in-app coach, including anything you type and any photos you send it.
  • Photos you take in the app to identify a meal or scan a barcode or a nutrition label.
  • Product analytics and error reports. A defined list of in-app events (for example: a workout finished, a meal logged) plus crash and error diagnostics. Automatic click-tracking is switched off, so we do not log every tap. When the app hits an error it also records a replay of the moments leading up to it, so the fault can be reproduced. Replays are only captured around errors, never as a matter of course.
  • Waitlist emails. If you join the waitlist on the public landing page, before you have an account, we store the email you gave, which part of the page you signed up from, and which version of the waitlist wording you saw and agreed to. We use it to send one email when the app opens to the public, and nothing else. We also use your IP address to stop one person or bot flooding the waitlist. It is held in a counter that resets daily, and is never stored with your email.

We do not collect payment details. There is nothing to buy in the app today.

Health and nutrition data goes to an AI provider

This is the part worth reading twice. BRO is powered by large language models we do not run ourselves. When you chat with BRO, or send it a photo of a meal or a supplement label, the relevant parts of your training, nutrition and body data are sent to an external AI provider so it can answer. That includes things many people consider health information: body weight and body measurements, your height, age and sex if you gave them, calorie and macro intake, training load, and any symptoms, injuries or conditions you choose to type into the chat or record during onboarding.

Requests are routed through the Vercel AI Gateway to Anthropic and OpenAI. If you would rather this data never left the app, do not use the coach: every feature in BroCoached is usable manually without it.

Who processes your data

We use these companies to run the app. Each one only receives what its job needs.

  • Vercel — hosting and the AI Gateway that routes coach requests.
  • Neon — the database where your account and everything you log is stored.
  • Google — sign-in, and app distribution through Google Play.
  • Anthropic and OpenAI — the AI models behind the coach and photo analysis.
  • Sentry — crash and error monitoring.
  • PostHog — product analytics.
  • Upstash — rate limiting, which keeps usage counters per account.
  • Inngest — scheduled background jobs, such as coach nudges.

Food and barcode lookups query USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts. Those requests carry the barcode or the search term, not your identity.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Analytics and error reporting can be switched off

Profile > Privacy & data has a toggle that stops analytics and error reporting for your account. It does not affect anything you log, or the coach.

How long we keep it, and how to delete it

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Because this is a pre-release build, deletion is handled by hand rather than by a button in the app. If you only joined the waitlist and never created an account, there is no account for this to apply to: we keep your waitlist email until we send the one launch email it exists for, or until you ask us to remove it, whichever comes first.

Email federicodedeu@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and ask for your account to be deleted, for a copy of your data, or to be taken off the waitlist. We will action it and confirm when it is done. If you are in the UK, EU or another region with equivalent rights, this is also how to exercise them.

Deleting your account removes it from our database. Diagnostic records already sent to Sentry and PostHog age out on those providers' own schedules, and prompts already sent to an AI provider are retained under that provider's terms rather than ours.

Children

BroCoached is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. Because the app is in testing, expect it to be revised.
